Grey's Anatomy "Great Expectations"

Grey's Staff
What happened last night...
It was full of it's usual angst and excitement which builds up the the "ooh!", signature "last five minutes". Last week's tragic death of George's dad... which made us sad, the "George is gay" thing... which made us sadder, and Golden Globe fiasco, made us wonder if we could feel anything but sad when we thought of Thursday nights.... But, with the option of NOT getting to see "McDreamy" in action on the line, we watched with ...hope.
Here, is what happened in Grey's with our coco comments:
  • Dr. Webber decides to step down as Chief of Surgery. Word spreads fast. It has been months since his wife gave him an ultimatum. He things he can step down and save their marriage (months later, typical "guy" timeline). He goes to let her know that he has retired... but... to his surprise.. she has moved on. We say, "You go girrl!!" She should have dumped him after she knew he cheated...better late than never. It would take a lot for us to respect a woman that doesn't walk away with her dignity after being forced to deal with "other women".
  • McDreamy is furious when he finds out that Burke was offered the Chief position before him. McDreamy then becomes obsessive about getting the Chief position. He yells at Meredith for putting Sloane in the "know". They have their first "fight". He gives the sweetest speech about fighting and making up as a couple. We love his arrogance! It is what makes him McDreamy. Face it, the character of Derek Shepherd is just plain sexy!
  • George deals with his father's death, by having sex with Torres as much as he physically can. Torres wants to help him, but is worn out by his methods. Okay, after last week it was really hard for us to put our mind around this, George is gay?! He's a good actor is way adorable!
  • Dr. Bailey decides that she wants to build a free clinic at Seattle Grace and spends much of her time trying to gain support for the project. Clearly, she will be the next Chief. We love Bailey!
  • Addison is avoiding Karev and has been ever since they kissed. He finally corners her and quells any embarrassment she may have had. Addison needs to get a life. We see a baby in her future. Maybe Karev?! He is giving her a line about not being interested, he is totally into her.
  • Two girls in their mid-twenties come to the hospital together. They are best friends, they were born 2 days apart and declare they will be best friends "crib to grave". The two ran away from their Amish community when they were sixteen. One of the girls gets diagnosed with terminal cancer.
  • Sloane is about to leave Seattle for good, then Meredith tells him, inadvertently, about the new found job opening, he decides to stay and pursue it.
  • Addison decides she should be in the running for the Chief of Surgery position as well.
  • Burke and Cristina. She talks first. He proposes...will she say yes? Whether she will or not - we think she should. Those two are not perfect - but they are strangely perfect for each other. We think she will initially say "no" in Cristina "fear of commitment" fashion, and then change her mind.
  • Now we are in the "last five minutes": O'Malley proposes (on one knee!!! ) to Torres. What will her answer be?? We think she will say "yes" initially. Then realize... they are not meant to be. Clearly, sweet George wants to find something to hold on to with the passing of his Dear Daddy. We will be surprised if Gritty Torres is the one... but stranger things have happened!
Okay we are hooked yet again. We have to see if Meredith is lucky enough to ever get McDreamy to propose...
