It's a Baby Girl for Halle Berry

http://www.statesman.com/shared-gen/blogs/austin/shopping/halle2.jpg

NEW YORK (AP) — Halle Berry doesn't just play a mom in movies anymore.

The 41-year-old actress had a baby girl Sunday, and "is doing great," her publicist Meredith O'Sullivan told People.com, the Web site of People magazine. It is her first child.

The father is 32-year-old model Gabriel Aubry. The two met while shooting a Versace ad in Los Angeles two years ago.

Berry told Oprah Winfrey on her show last year that playing a mother in her latest movie, "Things We Lost in the Fire," helped convince her that motherhood was for her.

"I think it validated that I was meant to be a mother because every day I dealt with the character as a mother and thinking as a mother," Berry said. "It let me know that I must be a mother."

Berry won the best-actress Oscar for 2001's "Monster's Ball." She also won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for 1999's "Introducing Dorothy Dandridge."

Berry had said she and Aubry don't plan to marry, but feel fully committed to each other.

Oh the Joys of single parenting! Still no name announced for baby Berry-Aubrey.

Congrats Halle...but commitment without the benefit of marriage ... screams even less than 50% potential success. Although we admit.. Goldie and Kurt are the exception.

Toodles!

This and That..

Just a few blurbs about this and that....

It is no surprise that TV today is less than tantalizing thanks to the Writers' Guild strike. We wish we could say we sympathize more with them... with all of their separate deals and the whole Jimmy Hoffa-ness of it all... and now with no Golden Globes...what will we do for red carpet fashion directives?!! Let us just say.. a free agent situation would be greatly appreciated. Even though the writers have carved an agreement with David Lettermen... we find Jay Leno to be more entertaining and deserving of our respect.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus lends her support to Writers Guild of America members as they picket Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, Calif., yesterday.

In the end, it is simply this... there is one episode left of Grey's Anatomy.. and we have not been very impressed with this season's plot lines...perhaps a flock of new non union writers might be refreshing.

Now for the Battles of Britney... It never ceases to amaze us.. how absolutely awful Lynne Spears is as a parent. Britney's parental units were planning to assure ratings for Dr. Phil's talk show and appear on an upcoming episode to discuss their "dirty laundry". Dr. Phil even showed up at Cedars-Sinai Medical center as Britney was checking out....per her family's request. Now the Spears family is pointing fingers to everyone including Dr. Phil for the train wreck known as the PR from Britney's breakdown... too bad they can't add themselves to the equation. Britney, poor thing, seems to have been raised by dignity challenged parents.

And of course, as if on cue... Dear Britney with new man thing in tow fled to NYC to avoid an impending intervention... geez.. We now feel as if a shower is necessary to wash it all away..

Her Mommy was certainly not Coco!

On to Mr. Blackwell... Posh makes worst dressed along with Jessica Simpson and Lilo... but our Coco Mommy Reese makes best dressed...

Speaking of Reese... she also wins the poll among popular celebrities as well as the People's Choice award for fav Female Movie Star.

Reese - Said to have had second thoughts (from RTE)

"The actress proved to be the most-liked celebrity among ten women who regularly found their way onto magazine covers and into gossip columns in 2007, according to a poll on Friday.

For its E-Score Celebrity survey, E-Poll Market Research asked more than 1,100 people ages 13 and older whom they found the most appealing, confident, glamorous, interesting and over-exposed, among other qualities." (from Yahoo!)

You go girl!!! The big question is ... are there wedding bells ringing for she and Jake Gyllenhaal?

By the way, just a note... we watched, "Cashmere Mafia"... designer clothes, girlfriends, Lucy Lui - sounded like our kind of show. Until they portrayed a Coco Mommy as well... the enemy. Let us just say... in this situation... a writer's strike is the best thing that could happen to this show. We certainly won't be watching it...

OOOh! One more note: Congrats to the newest Hottie Mommy to be Nicole Kidman! The preganacy is confirmed with a rumored arrival date sometime in July.
We do love her. We hope that she and hubbie Keith Urban have a healthy pregnancy and child!

We have to add one of the comments George Clooney made when he was asked about Nic's baby news: "At least she is older than 16."

On that note we will say: Toodles for now!

Coco Scene! Halle Berry -BABY LOVE

Everyone knew that Halle Berry really wanted to experience motherhood.
Now-it appears she will have her chance... at age 41, she and her boyfriend of almost 2 years Gabriel Aubry, are expecting!
Oh, the excitement!

However, the conventional role of marriage to the baby daddy in this case seems to be "out". We love Halle!.... she is a lovely, lovely girl.. sadly, a bad personal decision maker (her unfortunate 2 failed marriages).
Miss Berry's star status may excuse creating a family without the benefit of marriage... in Hollywood. However, for we Coco Moms who live in the real world...we see that traditional relationships benefit the children most.

Think of the joys Matilda Rose - love child of Michelle Williams and Heath Ledger - will have... now that her parents, who met on the set of Brokeback Mountain....
conceived sweet Matilda ...
were engaged but never married...

have broken up.

It never ceases to amaze we, Coco Moms, who work so diligently for the success of our children ... how careless "artist" are when entering the realm of parenting. The poor darlings...

Toodles!
